Home entertainment systems have been going the route of large flat panel displays. There was a time when if you wanted a large display you had to have a projection TV system. Starting with 40-inch CRT displays, these were quickly followed by 52-inch displays. These were large TV. Large and getting even bigger.
Nowadays, there are an array of viable alternative. There are DLP projector systems, plasma and LCD systems. For large displays, plasma flat panel TV are the way to go. But for systems the size of 40- or 50-inches, LCDs offer an viable options.
Large flat panel systems need not be expensive. The cost of LCD systems have been steadily getting cheaper and the newer releases are full HDTV compliant and with multiple input sources.
LCD TV sets do have disadvantages. These come with the display technology or how the pixels are displayed on the screen. In terms of lifespan, LCDs compare well with other technologies. For small TV sizes, LCD TV are cheaper than plasma, but the cost of LCD TV don’t scale well with larger sets, those above 40-inches.
With recent research and developments, the cost of flat panel systems are getting less expensive all around. And with new technology and newer releases with more and better features, the cost of new and used TV are getting less expensive as well. There are even some used LCD flat panel TV of 30-inches in size which are less expensive than new CRT TV TV.
Whether these are brand new or used and previously owned, discount LCD TV panels are not uncommon. It’s possible to find cheap large LCD flat panel TV for the discriminating users who want to acquire new home entertainment TV.
